Everyone’s Talking About Falling Coffee Prices Here’s What Most Don’t Understand
I was standing in line at a small café last week when the person in front of me looked at the menu and muttered, “Five dollars for a pour-over? Coffee’s getting out of hand.”
I couldn’t help but smile, not because they were wrong, but because no one sees the full story behind that cup.
Coffee, like life, has its ups and downs. Right now, we’re in a bit of a dip. Global coffee prices are falling fast, and some dealers who stocked up when prices were high, are stuck with inventory they can’t move. This article explains it well, but here’s the human side of the story:
While big coffee buyers scramble, small-batch roasters like us at Win Win Coffee are holding steady. Because for us, coffee isn’t a commodity, it’s community.
Why We’re Not Chasing the Cheapest Bean
Let’s get this out of the way: Yes, prices are dropping. But no, we’re not about to start cutting corners.
When we source beans, we don’t just look at the cost. We look at who is growing it, how it’s grown, and why it matters.
Take our Harmony Roast for example. It comes from a small cooperative in Honduras run by women farmers who use sustainable, low-water farming techniques. We've worked with them long enough to know their names, their families, even their post-harvest rituals.
Sure, we could grab a cheaper bean right now but we’d be walking away from relationships we’ve spent years building. And honestly? That’s not what Win Win stands for.
A Win for You, A Win for the Farmer
Our name isn’t just clever branding. It’s our business model. We believe every cup should be a win for:
You, the coffee drinker who deserves a flavorful, consistent brew you can feel good about
The farmers, who put in the real work, and deserve fair pay regardless of market swings
The environment, which needs sustainable practices more than ever
So even though the market is shaky, we’re doubling down on what we do best: transparent sourcing, intentional roasting, and building coffee rituals that feel like home.
A Peek Behind the Roast: Real Conversations, Real Coffee
One of my favorite moments from last month came from a phone call with one of our longtime subscribers, Max from Denver.
Max said, “Your Morning Kick blend tastes different this week. Not bad, actually better. Smoother. What changed?”
I laughed because yes, something did change. We slightly adjusted the roast profile based on this season’s beans from Ethiopia. A little slower through first crack, a little more development.
But the real joy in that moment? Max noticed. And not just the flavor, he noticed that coffee, when it’s made with care, tells a story.
That’s what gets us up in the morning. That’s why we taste, test, and tweak until it’s just right even when the market’s upside down.
Your Coffee Ritual = Your Anchor
Let’s talk about you for a second.
Maybe your coffee ritual is a quiet pour-over before the kids wake up. Maybe it’s a thermos you sip in traffic, or a French press shared with someone you love.
Whatever it looks like, that moment matters. It’s a pause, a reset, a daily act of self-respect. And right now, when life feels like it’s constantly shifting, those tiny anchors matter more than ever.
So here’s your coffee tip of the day:
Don’t chase perfection. Chase connection.
If that means trying your beans a little coarser, switching to filtered water, or sprinkling cinnamon for a little anti-inflammatory boost, do it. But do it for you.
The Win Win Way (Even When It’s Not Profitable)
We’re not in this to win a price war. We’re in this to win your trust.
Even with falling prices and tighter margins, we’re still roasting in small batches. We’re still paying above fair trade. We’re still writing hand-written notes in our subscriptions because we still believe in the power of personal connection through coffee.
Because when it comes down to it, this is about more than beans. It’s about belonging.
If you’re new here, welcome to the Win Win family. We’re glad you’re here. And if you’ve been with us for a while, thank you for sticking with us, cup after cup.
No matter what the market does, we’ll be here roasting with heart, brewing with purpose, and always sharing the good stuff.
☕✨
Here’s to your next great cup. And the people behind it.
