☕ From Brazil With Love: How Tariffs Are Brewing Up New Opportunities in Your Cup

Hey coffee friends,

So the other day, I was chatting with a regular at our café, let’s call him Dave. Dave’s the kind of guy who knows his beans. He can sniff out a naturally processed Ethiopian from across the room. But that morning, he paused mid-sip and said, “This one tastes… warmer. Like a hug in a mug. What is it?”

It was our newest single origin from Brazil. And it’s not just delicious, it’s timely. Let me tell you why.

🌍 A Little Global Jolt: The Tariff Twist

Recently, U.S. tariffs have been shaking up the coffee world. Tariffs placed on beans from certain countries have made imports more expensive and, well, complicated. But here’s the twist: Brazilian coffee exporters are seeing a golden opportunity.

With fewer trade restrictions and competitive pricing, Brazil is stepping up as a major player to fill the gaps left by others. That means more of their beans are making their way into local roasters’ hands, and ultimately, into your cup.

☀️ What Makes Brazilian Coffee So Special?

If you’ve ever had a smooth, chocolatey, nutty brew that made you want to cozy up with a book or a long conversation, there’s a good chance it was Brazilian. Their beans are typically grown in large estates using sun-drying methods, which give them that mellow, approachable flavor profile. Think milk chocolate, toasted almonds, sometimes a hint of red fruit, super drinkable, even for folks just getting into specialty coffee.

And now? With more of it coming in thanks to shifting trade winds, we're exploring new regions and farmers we hadn’t connected with before. Some of the microlots we’ve sampled recently have totally blown us away. One even had this unexpected honey-date sweetness that made me do a double-take mid-cupping.

👨‍🌾 From Farm to Filter: A Story That Matters

One of our Brazilian suppliers, Ana, runs a third-generation coffee farm in Minas Gerais. Her grandfather planted the first trees; now she’s experimenting with sustainable growing techniques and natural fermentation. When we had our first Zoom call with her, I asked what drives her.

She said, “Every harvest tells a story. If you can taste my land in your cup, then I’ve done my job.”

That stuck with me.

🤝 A Brewed-Together Future

Here’s what excites me most: as Brazil rises to meet global demand, there’s more room for connection, creativity, and collaboration. We’re working directly with farmers like Ana to bring in beans that don’t just taste good, they do good. Better prices for farmers, transparency in sourcing, and unique flavor profiles you won’t find on supermarket shelves.

And we want you to be part of this journey.

🗳️ Help Us Pick Our Next Brazilian Blend!

We’ve got three new Brazilian samples we're roasting this week, and we’d love your help deciding which one becomes our next feature brew. Keep an eye on our newsletter for a special tasting flight offer, you'll get to sip and vote. (And yes, you can totally bribe us with coffee selfies. No shame.)

Let’s Raise a Mug Together

Coffee isn’t just a beverage, it’s a bridge. Between people, between countries, between moments. What’s in your mug right now? Is it telling a story?

I hope this Brazilian blend brings a little sunshine to your day. And if you’ve had a standout cup lately, tell a friend, tag us on socials, or shoot us an email. We’re all in this coffee journey together.

Stay caffeinated and curious,
